Equestrian Photography

Horses have been a part of my life since I was a little girl. I remember the first time my parents gave me lessons as a gift for my 8th birthday. I started off riding western, learning to barrel race. Unfortunately, a fall off the horse scared me enough to quit at that time. Flash forward to the summer 2 years later, when my friend asked if I wanted to join her in an English riding camp. I decided to sign up and never looked back. Taking that second chance with equines was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. The years to follow were filled with lessons, some shows, and countless hours riding and adoring other people's horses....until my 17th birthday, when my parents gifted me my heart horse, Encore.

Encore is a New Forest pony who is stubborn with a silly personality. Although he is usually one of the smaller ones in the pasture, he definitely has “little man syndrome” and rules the pastures quietly. His sturdy build and sweet personality make him a barn favorite wherever we go. He comes when I whistle for him and like most other horses, loves his apples and carrots. In 2016, a stall accident almost took him away from me. Among the chaos of that first phone call when I emotionally blacked out feeling hopeless because I was out of town, I sat, waiting for any news. As I waited, I scrolled through my phone looking at photos I had of him.

That's when I realized, I NEVER had any professional photos done of the two of us. The only documented history together consisted of mostly selfies or simple cell phone shots. I was crushed! What if this was the end? After three years of recovery and a lot of patience and tears, I not only have a pony that has steadily been sound and amazing ever since, I now also have professional photos of us hung on my walls that I can cherish for many years to come.

One of the things I enjoy most about my job is capturing the bond we have with these beautiful creatures and meeting fellow equestrians with the same love for their heart horses.. They aren’t just animals, they are family.
